The licensing system identifies the computer on which a license has been activated using some hardware properties. If your hardware configuration changes - e.g. because the hard drive has been replaced - it may happen that the license is considered questionable. You can restore a license during your maintenance contract, however only, if not too much hardware has changed.
To restore a license, open the WebDepot. To do this, enter the URL http://lc.codemeter.com/67053/depot in your browser and
copy/paste the corresponding ticket ID into the field and click the “Next” button. The following dialog will appear.
Click “Restore licenses”. In most cases, the license should be usable again after this. Please contact support if you have any problems restoring it.
If the computer on which the license is to be activated does not have an internet connection, you can perform an offline activation. Everything that happens automatically during online activation now has to be done manually. There are several actions required the process is not so easy and will take some time.
If you have the opportunity to temporarily connect the computer to the internet and perform an online licensing, this is the much easier way.
If the computer on which the license is to be activated does not have an internet connection, you can perform an offline activation. Everything that happens automatically during online activation now has to be done manually. There are several actions required and, if you have the opportunity to temporarily integrate the computer into your network and perform an online licensing, this is the much easier way.
If that is not possible, you can use the offline licensing. Besides computer A, on which you want to conduct the offline licensing, you will also need a computer B with a working internet connection. But first an overview of the required steps:
On computer A, you create a license request file (file extension WibuCmRaC) using the Codemeter Control Center. You transfer this file to computer B and use the WebDepot to create a license update file (file extension WibuCmRaU).
Transfer this file to computer A and integrate it using the Codemeter Control Center. The license is thus activated on computer A. After that you have to confirm this process.
Here are the instructions in detail:
On Computer A, start the CodeMeter Control Center, select the KeepTool container, and click the License Update button.
The CmFAS wizard opens. Click on Continue. In the following dialog, select Create License Request and click Continue.
In the following dialog you are able to choose a file name for the requesting file. We recommend keeping it at default.
Click Apply. The license request file will be generated and you will receive the following confirmation dialog:
Now transfer the license request file onto computer B.
The next steps are the same as for online licensing. Open in the browser on computer B the URL that we sent you by e-mail. It opens the so-called WebDepot. Click on the button "I would like to transfer my licenses to a computer (CmActLicense)". After that, the following dialog opens.
Now click on "Offline license transfer". The following wizard opens giving you information concerning the upcoming steps.
The steps 1 to 3, that are displayed in this dialog have already been performed. All you need to do is entering the license request file and then click on the "Request now and continue" button. WebDepot generates a license update file (file extension WibuCmRaU). In the following dialog
In the following dialog, click the "Download license update file now" button. Select option "Save".
Now transfer the actualization file onto computer A.
Start the CodeMeter Control Center again on computer A, select the Container KeepTool and click on the License Update button. The CmFAS Assistant opens once more. But this time, select the "Import license update" option
and click on "Continue". In the following dialog, select the license update file that you previously transferred onto computer A and click on "Apply". The license is now activated on computer A.
You can now use the KeepTool software on computer A. The offline licensing is not quite yet completed. You still need to send a receipt to WebDepot.
The steps required for this are only sketched here, since they are analogous to the previous steps.
On Computer A, start the CodeMeter Control Center, select the Container KeepTool, click on "License Update" and this time select the option "Generate Receipt". A WibuCmRac file is generated, which you have to transfer back to computer B.
On computer B, you are still in the web depot. There you will be asked to enter the receipt file. You do that and then click on "Upload receipt now". This completes the offline licensing process.
